Mark 4 Plucked Up

  • Speaker: Mark Brown
  • Date: Sunday, September 25, 2011
  • Series: Gospel of Mark

Sticky Note:  Bring your hardness, shallowness, and dividedness to Jesus

This was a bleak (yes, I felt the bleakness too) picture of when the good seed of the gospel falls on hard, shallow, thorny ground and bears no fruit.  We see these tendencies around us in other people, and also in ourselves.  The Lord of the Harvest would be just to pluck us up and throw us into the compost pile.

The good news is that Jesus, who was never hard, shallow, or divided, identified himself with us to the point of death on the cross, so we will never be plucked up.

This is also a call for us to repent of our hard, shallow, and often divided hearts, and ask the Lord of the Harvest to plow up our hard ground, pull up the rocks so we can go deep in Him, and yank up the weeds that are choking out the fruit He loves and deserves.
