Genesis 15:1-6 Look Up and Let Go

  • Speaker: Mark Brown
  • Date: Sunday, May 08, 2011
  • Series: Genesis

Sticky Note:  Look Up and Let Go

God is our shield and our reward
-what step of faith could we take, believing that today?

Fear and impatience are enemies of trust
-they lead to looking at our circumstances and grasping for control
-but God calls us to TRUST Him -- looking up and letting go

Since we have trusted Jesus, God has credited us with Jesus' Righteousness
    -we're not "just forgiven"
-its the equivalent of having lived a perfectly righteous life
-its what it means to "be saved"
-Jesus gets credit for our sins (past, present, and future)

Implications:
-freedom from pretending, a clear conscience, assurance of God's love

Jesus let go, and his hands were nailed to a cross
Jesus looked up, and found himself forsaken by God
...not for his sins, but for ours

So that when we look up, we see the smile of the Father
And when we let go, Jesus takes our hand and says, "Trust me.  I won't let go."
