Are we shame-sharers or shame-coverers?
When we encounter news about someone's sin or failure, do we share it and spread it, or do we bear it and cover it? What gives us the power to be shame-coverers instead of sinking into gossip?
Jesus, who had no shame of his own, was stripped naked on the cross in order to cover and bear our shame. He became drunk from the wine of God's wrath, which he drank in our place. He that bore and covered our shame, now lives in the hearts of his children, changing them from gossips who spread shame to people who sacrificially bear and cover the shame of other sinners.
