Sticky Note:  Dependence is Necessary

Jesus is the Vine, we are the branches.  This picture that Jesus uses to describe our relationship with him shows our complete dependence on him for everything.

What it means to be a Christian is continually acknowledging and enjoying this complete dependence.  Its also means turning away from (repenting of) other things we are depending on besides the true Vine, Jesus Christ.  Jesus calls this process "abiding" in him.

Evidences of our abiding in Jesus:
    -loving God and other people
    -experiencing joy
    -having our prayers answered


This coming week:  Every branch in the Vine gets pruned
    -What is this pruning?
    -What does it feel like?
    -What is its purpose?
