Who We Are
Redeemer Winston-Salem (our mother church) was formed in 1982, the result of a desire
to make God's name great among the nations (Malachi 1:11). A dozen young families, singles and students started meeting together to work and pray for the formation of a church that would later become a part of the Presbyterian Church in America. And by planting new churches, it would grow into a region-wide movement of churches in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Click here for more.
Redeemer Yadkin Valley was started in 2009 by another group of about 25 people (purposefully sent out from Redeemer Winston-Salem) who live in and love the Yadkin Valley area and want to see another vibrant, gospel-centered church in their community. As a church on a mission, we are always interested in moving out with the gospel, loving the people in our community (especially the ones who are hurting the worst), and sending and supporting missionaries to countries all over the world.
The initial congregation of Redeemer Yadkin Valley meets in downtown Yadkinville. Over the next several years, we plan on starting congregations in eastern and western Yadkin County, Elkin, Mocksville, and Mount Airy.
We are NOT an independent congregation. We are very connected to other believers in Jesus. Our Denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) is a relatively 'young' denomination, formed in 1973. Its vision encourages believers to be "true to the Scriptures, the Reformed Faith and the Great Commission of Jesus Christ." There are over 1,200 congregations and 233,000 members in the PCA across North America. The PCA supports over 600 foreign missionaries in more than sixty countries internationally. Redeemer shares the PCA vision and supports its activities to take the gospel to our neighbors and to the nations. We love our Christian brothers and sisters in other denominations, too, and enjoy partnering with them.
